Shea Megale is a beautiful little 12 year old girl who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). One in every 6,000 babies is born with SMA. Furthermore, one in every 40 people carries the gene that causes SMA. That means the child of two carriers has a 1 in 4 chance of developing SMA.

For the past 10 years, the "Walk for Shea" has been organized in an effort to raise public awareness about this illness and to, hopefully, find a cure. All proceeds raised from this event are dedicated to research for this disease which has no cure to date. The entire family can participate in this event - strollers and friendly dogs are welcome! The 10th Annual Walk for Shea, was held on April 29, 2007 -- Nearly 600 people participated and more than $20,000 was raised. To date the walk has raised close to $150,000.00 -- all of which has gone to to helping raise awareness of SMA and to help fund research.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Oprah has an upcoming show, "Amazing and Talented Kids," I can think of no child more Amazing and Talented than Young author Shea Megale. We want everyone to get behind our project. In order to Upscale Marvelous Mercer, to be able to donate money to CCI and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (to possibly one day cure Shea's disease), WE NEED TO BE ON OPRAH!!!

All we are asking from you is that you click on the link below, fill out the form to PRAISE Shea, Marvelous Mercer, and the true inspiration and miracle she lives every day. The more help we get, the better the chances of being seen on Oprah, which leads to more sales, which helps for more assistance dogs being bred, and also leads to money for Shea's disease, which leads to a CURE!!!

An example of what you could say would be "Shea Megale has authored two books about Mercer, her companion dog. She is an unbelievably articulate 13 year old, wise beyond her years. She has SMA, a degenerative muscle disorder that will weaken her muscles as she ages. However, amidst all those challenges, her mission is to raise research money for kids with SMA, and raise more assistance dogs for returning soldiers, dismembered by war. Shea has accomplished all this at the age of 13."

Looking for Amazing and Talented Kids!

Thank you so much for your help!!

Marvelous Mercer Team!
