Community Service Hours

Those individuals seeking to earn community service hours - here's your opportunity. As a non-profit organization, our goal is to raise awareness about SMA and funds to help find a cure one day.

The "Walk" needs help in the following areas. You will be given a form completed and signed by the "Walk for Shea" coordinator indicating that you participated in this event and you will be responsible for calculating the amount of time you dedicated for this charity event. A space will be provide on the form to indicate your time.

  • Patrols - (needed the day of the walk - must be at least 12 years of age)
These individuals will man each intersection of the walk and help
to direct traffic. Minimum # needed is 10
  • Distributors - These individuals will be responsible for distributing flyers
(mailbox to mailbox) in local communities such as Virginia Run,
Gatepost Estates, Little Rocky Run, Sequioa Farms, etc.
  • Poster makers - These individuals will put their artistic talent to good use by
making posters to hang in the local merchant buildings such as
Giant, SFW, Library, Diners, Stores, etc. Supplies will be provided.
  • Carpenters - Our "Walk for Shea" signs are getting very old and weathered and we are need of new ones.
  • Bakers/cooks - Organize a bake sale and donate your earnings to the cause.

If you have any ideas or suggestions on how you would like to earn community service hours, we'd love to hear about it. Contact Mo Nieves at Kellex@aol.com for more information.
